Overview
An Aspect of Conversion relates a Unit of Measure to the base of the underlying unit system(s) in terms of exponents of the base units.
It allows to calculate the value if the Unit is changed from Unit u1 to Unit u2.
All Units which are in principle convertible have the same Aspect of Conversion. The Aspect of Conversion is the vector of exponents to basis 10 of the base-units (m, kg, s, etc.) of a unit system.
The Aspect of Conversion has a unique assigned identifier, which will get a new CSI in IRDI.
Coincidentally sometimes, the vector “aspect of conversion” is identical with one or many Units. One of these Units is exceptional and is the “unit for reference purpose”. This means the Aspect of Conversion may denote more than one Unit!
Examples of Aspects of Conversion:
-
(mol/kg)/K - temperature-related molar mass
-
1/kVAh - reciprocal energy
-
Bq/kg - activity related by mass
